About Daybreak

Daybreak is an iPhone screen-time app designed to protect the moments when distraction hits hardest: late at night and just after waking. It limits the apps that keep you scrolling past bedtime, then turns your usual morning phone time into a focused session before those apps unlock. Rather than relying on willpower alone, Daybreak helps you wind down properly, wake with more energy, and replace the phone-first reflex with a healthier daily rhythm.

Hi, I'm Ryan

I built Daybreak to help me take back control over my nights and mornings.

It started with my own mornings. I'd wake up, grab my phone to check one thing, and lose thirty or forty minutes in bed before I'd even gotten up — and I'd feel worse for it. The start of the day, immediately gone.

At night, the same pattern would emerge. I would tell myself I had earned a little time to relax, but a short break often became another thirty minutes of scrolling. That made it harder to fall asleep, left me feeling groggy the next morning, and set up the same cycle all over again.

I tried other screen-time apps, but most were either too complicated or too easy to disable. I would simply turn them off and keep scrolling. What worked better was setting clear rules in advance, strictly blocking the apps that repeatedly distracted me, and replacing that time with something intentional. I used a simple focus timer to help me do exactly that, setting aside a specific time in the morning to build healthier morning habits. For me, it started with morning prayer for just 5 minutes daily.

Daybreak is that approach, built into an app. I work on it solo, and I'd like it to help your mornings too.
