Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 21, 2026

Daybreak is developed and operated by Ryan Setiawan ("we," "us," or "our"), an independent developer based in Indonesia. This policy explains what information Daybreak collects, how it's used, and the choices you have.

1. Information Stored on Your Device

Daybreak's core focus-and-blocking features work entirely on your device, without any account. This includes:

  • Your weekly schedule (Night Lock and Morning Unlock times, focus session length, per day)
  • Your focus session and streak history (start/pause/completion times, current streak count)
  • Your Emergency Unlock settings and usage count for the current lock period
  • Your notification preference (on/off)
  • The apps and categories you've chosen to restrict

None of this is transmitted anywhere. It's stored locally, encrypted by iOS, and shared only between Daybreak and its own system extensions (for example, the one that applies the block at Night Lock) — never with us or anyone else.

On your restricted app selection specifically: iOS's Screen Time technology deliberately keeps this private even from us. Daybreak receives an opaque, anonymous token for each app or category you select — not its name. We can enforce a block using that token, but we cannot see, and have no way of determining, which real apps you've chosen to restrict.

2. Information You Provide (Account Features)

Creating a Daybreak account is optional and is not required to use any of the app's features. If you choose to create one — via Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google — we (through Firebase, our authentication provider) receive the name and email address that provider shares with us (Sign in with Apple can share a private relay address instead of your real one, at your choice). We use this only to identify your account, so your support purchase can be recognized if you reinstall or switch devices.

Daybreak does not sync your schedule, streak, or any other app data to a server — an account identifies you and nothing more. If you change your display name in Account Settings, that new name is stored only on your device and is never sent to us.

3. Purchases & Payment Information

Daybreak is free. It offers optional one-time purchases that support development, processed through Apple's App Store and our purchase management provider, RevenueCat. We never receive or store your payment card details — Apple handles the transaction directly. RevenueCat receives purchase status information so we can recognize your purchase across reinstalls and devices. If you're signed in, that information is tied to your account identifier (not your name or email); if you're not, it's tied to an anonymous identifier generated on your device.

4. Analytics

To understand how Daybreak is used and to improve it, we use a product analytics provider (PostHog). This may include anonymized or aggregated information about which features are used and how often — not the contents of your schedule, streak, or restricted app selection. If you're signed in, these events are tied to your account identifier. We do not currently offer an in-app way to opt out of analytics; if you'd like your analytics data removed, email us at appdaybreak@gmail.com.

5. Feedback & Support

If you tap "Report a Problem," your device opens an email to appdaybreak@gmail.com with whatever you choose to write — this goes directly to us, nowhere else. If you tap "Request & Vote on Features," you're taken to our UserJot feedback board (currently via your browser). Anything you post there is handled under UserJot's own privacy practices, not ours, since it's a separate service.

6. Who We Share Information With

We do not sell your information. We share it only as described above — with Apple (Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases), Firebase (authentication), RevenueCat (purchase status), and PostHog (analytics), each solely to provide the features described in this policy. Any provider we share data with is required to protect it at least as well as this policy describes.

7. International Data Transfers

Daybreak is operated from Indonesia, and the service providers we rely on — Apple, Firebase, RevenueCat, and PostHog — may store and process data on servers located in the United States or other countries. If you use Daybreak from outside those countries, the limited account, purchase, and analytics information described in this policy may be transferred to and processed in a country whose data-protection laws differ from your own. We rely on those providers' own safeguards for such transfers.

8. How Long We Keep Information

On-device data stays on your device until you delete the app or clear it yourself. Account data is kept until you delete your account. You can delete it at any time from Settings → Account Settings → "Delete Account & Data," or by emailing appdaybreak@gmail.com — we'll delete your account and associated data, other than records we're legally required to keep.

Deleting your account also erases Daybreak's on-device data (your schedule, streak, and restricted app selection). Your App Store purchase is not affected: it belongs to your Apple ID, and "Restore Purchases" will bring it back.

9. Your Choices

You can turn notifications off at any time in Settings. You can revoke Daybreak's Screen Time access at any time in iOS Settings. You can delete your account and on-device data from Settings → Account Settings. To request a copy of your data, or removal of your analytics data, email us at appdaybreak@gmail.com.

10. Security

On-device data is protected by iOS's own file encryption. Any data held by our backend or service providers is protected using industry-standard security practices appropriate to that provider.

11. Children's Privacy

Daybreak is not directed to children under 13, or under the minimum age required in your country, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at appdaybreak@gmail.com and we'll delete it.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when Daybreak's features, data practices, or legal requirements change. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where required, provide additional notice through the app or by email.

13. Contact Us

Questions about this policy, or requests about your data, can be sent to appdaybreak@gmail.com.
